For me, gathering is an integral part of my artistic process. My works are based on ecosystems of affection that I create with people and the materials I encounter. Ecdisis emerged from a collection process of iguana shed scales during the pandemic, a time in which I experienced a profound stillness. In front of the house where I stayed in Ricaurte (Cundinamarca), there was a lake with a samán tree, commonly known as the rain tree. It was here that I encountered iguana skin and gradually decided to collect those scales, a process that continued for four years with the help of local residents. This work evokes that period of tranquility and highlights the coexistence of the animal in its habitat, emphasizing the beauty of temporary processes and the natural growth of these beings. In Ecdisis, a kind of resistance to disappearance takes shape, illuminating the imperceptible events that affirm life.

This term refers to the process of skin shedding in reptiles, which occurs as a result of renewal and growth. Its etymology comes from the modern Latin word "ecdisis", meaning to emerge, escape, liberate, and undress. Obsession

Text and curator: Caridad Botella:

Brings together the work of a group of 22 artists united by a common denominator: the development of an artistic practice characterized by reiteration, repetition, insistence, and rhythm. This meticulous methodology and thematic recurrence have evolved over time. Synonyms such as mania, neurosis, or fixation come to the fore; we observe patterns of repeated, alternated, and combined shapes and colors. Images are reproduced to the point of saturation, occupying the artist's mind and demanding to emerge into the open. Themes have been explored since the beginnings of each artist's trajectory and show no signs of fading with the passage of time. There is an intensity in the emphasis on forms that can possess a playful character, yet are vital to the artist who creates them.
